Cycling-friendly labels

Cycling-friendly services make your cycling tourism experience an enjoyable and quality one. There are cycling-friendly labels in more than 20 European countries, certifying that accommodations, restaurants, and other businesses along your way are ready and happy to welcome you and your bicycle!

Cycling-friendly labels guarantee a set of basic services for you and your bicycle, such as safe parking for your bicycle, lockers for your luggage, one-night stays, information on cycling networks and maps, repair tools, free charging of e-bike batteries, facilities for drying wet clothing, luggage transfer services, and more.

Cycling-friendly labels can cover restaurants, cafés, accommodation providers (from campsites to five-stars hotels), tourism offices, tourist attractions, bicycle rental and repair shops, among others. They are usually easily recognisable thanks to a distincitive logo.

In 2025, ECF identified more than 20,800 certified businesses and 22,300 services part of cycling-friendly labels across over 20 European countries.

Below, you will find an interactive map and a grid presenting more than 25 cycling-friendly labels across 20 European countries. Some schemes operate at regional level (in blue), while others are national and cover wider geographical areas (in yellow). This overview is not exhaustive and is based on information provided by ECF’s network of National EuroVelo Coordination Centres (NECCs) and other partners.

At the bottom of the page, you will find European-level resources that may be of interest to organisations managing cycling-friendly labels or looking to develop such schemes. Indeed, cycling-friendly labels are essential to the success of cycling tourism destinations, contribute to the development of sustainable tourism offers, and ultimately support the economic growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

As a visitor, you will still have to filter out the bicycle-friendly services yourself.

The bett+bike logo by ADFC can be found not only in Germany but in many other countries such as Switzerland, Belgium or Croatia. On the website certified accommodations are divided in four categories: bett+bike hosts, sports, camping and holiday homes. In addition, the results can be subdivided into regions and cycle routes. For an easier use while cycling, the bett+bike services can also be viewed with an app.

These establishments adhere to the bike-friendly service standards set by Bikeland and can be easily recognized by the Welcome Cyclist badge displayed at their entrance. Along the French cycle routes France Vélo Tourisme offers a wide range of services with Accueil Vélo, a national accreditation scheme guaranteeing a high quality of welcome and services for cyclists. This includes accommodations, restaurants, places to visit, tourist offices as well as bike rental and repair companies, all available to be explored on an interactive map. The “Accueil Vélo” brand is used in various regions in France, such as along the La Loire à Vélo (EuroVelo 6) as well as in the region of Alsace. (EuroVelo 5, 6 and 15).

A network of 135 hotels, 9 municipalities and 60 partners managed by NatTour, a non-for-profit organisation. The Bike Friendly Label is a verification awarded to Hotels, Municipalities / Destinations and other bodies related to cycling in Greece that fulfil a number of criteria for servicing and facilitating cyclists.

In Hungary, the national cycling-friendly service scheme was launched in cooperation with MAKETUSZ in the frame of the Cyclists Welcome in V4 project. There are now nearly 700 certified members. The goal is to have 1,500 service providers registered by the end of 2023.
