The EuroVelo routes crossing Finland invite you to discover an amazing country - the rough beauty of the Lapland fells, the dazzling lake district in central Finland, rolling hills of the south coast, and the charm of the coastal towns and the unique archipelago along the Baltic Sea. Follow the coastline on EuroVelo 10 - Baltic Sea Cycle Route, cross the country in the middle on EuroVelo 11 - East Europe Route, or explore the wild areas of the eastern border on EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain Trail.

EuroVelo 10 in Finland

The Baltic Sea in Northern Europe is one of the largest brackish water areas in the world, and its drainage area is about four times larger than its surface area. On the Finnish part of the EuroVelo 10 route you tour the Gulf of Finland as well as the very northern part of the Baltic Sea, the Bothnian Bay. The EuroVelo 10 takes you along coastal roads on the shores of the Baltic Sea, through towns and bigger cities, across forests and open fields, and over rivers and islands for a journey that is 1600 kilometres in length.

EuroVelo 11 in Finland

EuroVelo 11 East Europe Route crosses the whole interior of Finland from the fells of Lapland to Helsinki, bustling capital of Finland. This is a near 1600 km journey through wilderness areas and fells in Lapland, to the dazzling lake district in central Finland around the cities of Kuopio and Jyväskylä, the Lahti region with the splendour of Ice Age formations, and ending in the bustle of Helsinki and the metropolitan area.

EuroVelo 13 in Finland

The EuroVelo 13 Iron Curtain Trail runs in Finland between Näätämö on the Norwegian-Finnish border in northeastern Lapland and Vaalimaa at Virolahti in southeastern Finland. This 1687 km long trail takes you along the border between Finland and Russia in the vast and isolated parts of Finland where your companions for hours are varying birds, wildlife, and in Lapland an occasional reindeer. Green forests, open marshlands, swamps and bogs, hills and fells, rivers and streams, ponds and lakes in every size punctuate the route and change the scenery as you cycle along. As the southern part of the EuroVelo 13 route is still under development, we recommend riding the Northern part of the route starting at Sallatunturi.
