EuroVelo 11 crosses the eastern part of Lithuania, close to the Belarusian border, and visits Vilnius, the country's Baroque capital. From the Lithuanian-Latvian border, the route goes south through a wild country of forests and lakes. Further south you will cross the Labanoras Regional Park, containing 70 of the country’s 6,000 lakes. Keep a few days to spend in Vilnius; this little-known gem of a city will surely seduce you with the attractive architecture of its Old Town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will still also visit Trakai, with its 14th century castle, and cross the Dzukiya National Park before reaching the Lithuanian-Polish border.
