Entering Serbia from Hungary, the East Europe Route first passes through the northern province of Vojvodina with its timeless countryside. Cyclists wanting to experience more metropolitan surroundings will enjoy the country’s capital city, Belgrade, known as the ‘White City’ and popular with young travellers. The route then crosses the region of Banat, with its traditional Pannonian landscape, and the Danube River before reaching the city of wine and grapes, Smederevo. From here you are entering the heart of the country. This region is home to several significant churches while to the south, the area between the cities of Leskovac and Nis is a nature lovers dream come true.
