Labelled by some bicycle tourists as the ‘Beast of the East’, this lengthy route with its 6,550 km stretches from the north-east tip of Norway all the way down to sunny Greece. EuroVelo 11 will lead you through six extremely different capital cities: hip Helsinki, charming Vilnius, the ‘Phoenix City’ of Warsaw, the ‘White City’ of Belgrade, exciting Skopje and, last but not least, enchanting ancient Athens. This is the journey of two friends leaving their desk jobs for some months to discover the beauty of the Balkans and South Europe on two wheels. Corina and Georg set off from Vienna and cycled 7,000 kilometres until Alexandroupoli in Greece and back, crossing 11 countries in 150 days.
Claire and Olivier are two young French cyclists. After discovering bike travelling in 2018, they caught the bug and in summer 2019, they embarked on their first “big” trip: two and a half months to travel from Greece to Estonia along EuroVelo 11 – East Europe Route.
