The source of the River Rhine is a small shimmering lake at an altitude of 2,345m surrounded by high peaks. From Lake Toma, the torrent cascades down the mountains turning into a powerful Alpine river before entering peaceful Lake Constance. This is also the first stage of EuroVelo 15 and from Andermatt to the lake, the route follows the river in a large loop located in mountain settings, where cyclists can appreciate stunning landscapes. This stage passes through Chur, Switzerland’s oldest town, the border of the Principality of Liechtenstein, and the banks of Lake Constance, which surrounded by castles and orchards.
