The French part of EuroVelo 3, called "La Scandibérique", with its 1.700 km of routes, represents the longest cycling route in France. Starting at the Belgian border, the itinerary follows the Sambre and Oise valleys and then the Canal de l’Ourcq, passing through Île-de-France. Afterwards it goes along the Loire valley and Poitou to reach Gascogne, with its pine forests and vineyards. The route finishes in the Pyrenees at Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the confluence of the St. Jacques de Compostella paths.
