The colossal sand dunes on the Curonian Spit - one of the treasures of the UNESCO‘s World Heritage List – are undoubtedly the highlight of EuroVelo 13 in Lithuania. The route follows the 99 km coastline of Lithuania from the border with Latvia to the north to Russia (the Kaliningrad Oblast) in the south. Located approximately in the middle sits Klaipeda, the country's third largest city. It is emblematic of the region's multilayered heritage with remnants of the Prussian and Soviet eras standing side by side.

EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain Trail is a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 2019.
