The northernmost point of this stage is Durrës, a busy port containing the largest amphitheatre in the Balkans. Heading south, you will encounter the remains of the ancient Illyrian city of Apollonia, the chain of Ceramonian Mountains and the white sandy beaches of Saranda. Just offshore lies Corfu and its old town included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Near Saranda you can visit two other UNESCO sites: the ancient city of Gjirokastra, dominated by an impressive castle, and the ruins of Butrint (Buthrotum), an ancient Greek and Roman city. You will then quickly reach Igoumenitsa in Greece, with its pretty waterfront promenade.
